The Magic of Broadway and Rock and Roll
Today I had the honor of MC’ing a holiday show at the Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts for one of my favorite organizations in New York, Hospital Audiences. I have been doing my own shows for them around the city for many years. The theater was packed. The youth group Respect got the show off to a great start with two exciting dance numbers, directed by Tony Award-winning choreographer George Faison. Next came the phenomenal Broadway singer and actress Capathia Jenkins who brought the house down with her incredible version of ‘And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going’ from Dreamgirls. The legendary Ronnie Spector (from the Ronettes!), who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year, closed the show with a selection of classic Christmas songs and her greatest hits, including the famous ‘Be My Baby’. She is truly rock and roll history!
