Two Very Special Birthdays at the Colony Club

Saturday, May 26th, 2012

Last night, at the beautiful Colony Club on Park Avenue, the Pei Family celebrated the 100th birthday of Aileen Pei, and the 95th birthday of her stepson, architect I.M. Pei. Aileen’s 106-year old matchmaker was also in attendance. It was a lovely party! All the generations were celebrating together, there were lots of elegant ladies and gentlemen dancing, and then there were the wonderful cakes! Aileen’s was shaped like a mahjong game, and I.M. Pei was surprised with a chocolate rendition of one of his most famous works, the Louvre Pyramid.

It was a pleasure and an honor to perform at this very special event. Thank you to the Pei family for having me share in this celebration.

Happy audience

The Pei family and friends were captivated by the magic show. This picture is a bit fuzzy, but I love the expressions on their faces.

Louvre cake

I.M. Pei (95) was delighted with his ‘Louvre Pyramid’ cake. The lady in white (100) is his stepmother, flanked by her matchmaker (106) in purple.

Origins          GinZing mascara

Origins had me help them with a promotion for their newest GinZing Brightening Mascara last week. For three days, we visited beauty editors at some of the top fashion magazines in the country to demonstrate that GinZing “lifts, lengthens and brightens”. I was able to add a little magic to the presentations. It was a lot of fun, and very interesting to learn more about the beauty business.

Thank you, Origins team, for this great opportunity. It was a pleasure working with you!

Faculty Seminar on Magic, Perception and Decisions 2011-2012 (4)

Friday, May 4th, 2012

Our last seminar at Princeton was a big success. George Bisacca, a Conservator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, was the featured guest. He dazzled the group with his stories about restoring priceless works of art, and what he had learned during his years of apprenticeship in Italy.
