G’day USA! Australia Week 2008
Thursday, January 24th, 2008Two nights ago I worked with John Travolta again. The last time was in September when I was the magic consultant on a movie he was shooting in New York. This time, however, I played the part of a Qantas steward who magically serves Mr. Travolta a freshly-squeezed Australian orange juice and a beef dinner (with Vegemite!) on board of a simulated Qantas jet. Curled up next to him in his business-class seat was young Bindi Irwin. This little skit formed the opening of ‘Australia Plays Broadway‘, a showcase of Australian talent held at the Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center, and it led into a performance by the Western Australian band Eskimo Joe, after which John and Bindi emerged from the shadows.
